District 8 RCMP Acadian Peninsula is seeking the public's
assistance in its investigation of a blockade that disrupted traffic on
route 450 for eight hours on April 6, 2012 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00
p.m.
Police estimate that up to 300 people gathered along a short stretch
of route 450 in Lavillette to watch as drivers spun their tires on the
highway. District 8 RCMP were present in an effort to control the crowd
but when police attempted to break up the gathering they were threatened
and had bottles thrown at them.
Investigators are now reviewing videos of the incident that have been
posted on social media websites in an attempt to identify the
individuals who were committing offences. Anyone able to identify those
involved or who may have their own video of the incident is asked to
contact Neguac RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
