The mining commission meeting reconvened in Sussex yesterday, looking into compensation for residents who's property had been damaged by mining industries in the area. Below are some pictures from the meeting and citizens who came out in support of those affected in Penobsquis. We would like to thank Susan Young for submitting these photos to us since we were unable to attend yesterday.
What happens to Penobsqusis portends the fate of anyone who is disenfranchised by industry. Those numbers will be many if shale gas drilling is forced on this province. How is Elgin faring with the wells drilled there. Are residents experiencing health issues, land issues? Are they another canary in the coal mine? How many canaries have to be sacrificed before we learn?
