Earlier this week, the Village of Minto voted to place a moratorium on shale gas working within Town limits. As this publication stated, it would publish the details when received. Below is a statement sent to us this morning from Minto town councillor, Kris Austin.
"The majority of council felt that hydro-fracking has far too many risks associated with it and and that we have yet to see a reasonably safe method in it's process. Until we can be convinced that the benefits far outweigh the risks, we have placed a moratorium within the village limits. Although this is symbolic in nature, it helps lend a voice to the growing discontent and fear with the potential hydro-fracking process in New Brunswick. The motion was made by myself, and passed on Tuesday, November 8th by council."
